Marlin 39. Year of manufacture

Post by Mike Hepker »

I recently bought a Marlin lever action 22 that says model 39. No letter behind the 39. Serial * HS 213. Could some one tell me the year of manufacture? One site tells me it is pre 1883. I understand That at some time Marlin made some changes to the receiver then started at 0 and prefixed the numbers with an "HS" meaning hi speed. Oh, it has an octagon barrel.

Thank you,
Mike

Mike;

The Model 39 with the HS serial number prefix was made from 1933 to 1939. With a 3 digit serial number, you can pretty much figure it is a first year production gun.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.
