Mountie Question

Post by okbmw »

Am I correct in that the first 39A Mounties were made in 1953 with 24 in. Barrels and then in 1954 they were introduced with 20 in. barrels?
All replies appreciated.
Thanks, Garry

Garry;

That would be correct. There were 4,335 Mounties made in 1953, and they should have the old style Ballard rifling. The patented Micro-Groove rifling was introduced in the Model 39-A line of rifles in 1954. There were still some Ballard rifled guns made later, up to about 1956, which was just Marlin using up their stock of Ballard rifled barrels.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.
