I just bought a Marlin lever 1894 CS in .357/38 to match my Ruger SP 101 revolver caliber-wise, and I need to know what year it was built to put the right receiver sight on it.
It was built in North Haven, CT. There's a small, slightly distorted stamp on the left side of the barrel that looks like it could be the J/M stamp. I believe Remington bought Marlin in 2007, and heard that they moved production to another site. So this could well be a pre-Remington gun. It's in like-new condition.
Serial number is 00071109.
Any help appreciated. Thanks - Bob
How old is my Marlin 1894 CS?
