How Old Is my MOD 25 M
I recently inherited a Marlin .22 Magnum Rifle... It's looks old but I don't think it is. It's Serial Number is #15712499. It's a lever action rifle. I have read different things on line estimating it's age based on the first 2 digits. I am not sure that is right. I really need some feedback please.

SouthernMsGuy;
The Marlin Model 25 M started production in 1983. Since your serial number starts with 15, that indicates that your gun was made in 1985. ( 100 - 15 = 85 or 1985 ) Problem is, you state the gun is a lever action rifle, and the Model 25 M is a bolt action rifle. Either way, with a serial number like the one stated, the gun was made in 1985.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
