I am the owner of a Marlin 22 Long Rifle Manufactured Pre Sir Number, and the only Identifier besides The Marlin Rife Company and the Address, and the type of ammoit shoots, is the ID Mark M2 Rifle. Can anyone tell me anything about this Rifle?

From 1965 to 1978, Marlin made the Model 989M2 semi-automatic, .22 caliber rifle. Marlin made more than 110,000 of the M2 carbines during the production run. Your rifle would have been made sometime between 1965 and 1968. After the passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968, all firearms are required to have serial numbers, and records maintained. Your gun would have sold for $49.95 when it was manufactured. They were originally sold with two (2) seven (7) shot magazines up until 1970.
