Just saw this, I have model 39M serial number 20300776, was passed down to me from my father. Is that correct only 6 or 8 of these Model 39M were manufactured in 1980?

Fpg68j2p;

That would be correct. The records show only 6 Model 39 Mounties were made in 1980. Only 9 were made the following year, and 12 the year after that. The Mountie must not have been a good sales item, so the production was slowed down.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.

Hello there,

I live in Belgium (Europe) and still have a golden 39M (serial 2521xxxx).
Well, here in Europe, the laws became very strict for firearms. I got a letter from the governor asking me to decide what I'll do with it
(to ask for a new licence or to abandon it for destruction)

My poor Marlin was "forgotten" in my cellar for many years (+/- 15-20) and, unfortunately, got some rust :-(
I wonder if there is any "value" left for such an item and/or if it's possible and if it's worth the price to repair it…
or if it's better to say it "bye bye" and forget it.

Please forgive any Strange English word/construction as my first language is french.
Thank you for any advice anyone could give me ;-)

Marc.

Well i think we have 5 of the 6 or else something isn't quite right. I also have one made in 1980 according to the info in this post. Mines been in storage for 18 years.
Are the serial number sequential? If so they made way more then 6. Mine serial number is 203011??

Hi Dblackburn!
Thanks for your reply.
I Don't remember if the SN was sequential or not, but I don't think so.
Unfortunately, as I had to make my mind up before the end of this year and, regarding the stage of the rust, I think this weapon was not safe to use anymore… and the cost to "repair" it was too expansive as well as the cost to disable it to be allowed to keep it as a "relic" ;-)
So, yesterday, I decided to abandon it to the police office :(
Nevermind… It was a very cool and fine carbine to use.

Have a nice day/evening/night,
Marc.

The year is 1976. Tough to know a value without seeing it? Can you tell me the value of my Ford without seeing it? Prices vary a lot with condition.....with everything!

I got my copy of Model 39-39A variants records from a MFACA member decades ago. Not sure if it was something the factory gave to the Assn. or if Bill Brophy was involved in offering these records? Never seen them since, or offered up on any web site.
The records cover everything from the year 1922 to 1952 39a variations, up to 1975. Then a separate sheet that covers 1976 through 1989. Not sure if these were assembled by separate people, or the extra sheet added later?
