Model 27-S need schematic

Post by whr1966 »

Hello, new to the forum. Thanks in advance for any feed back.

I picked up a Model 27-S a while back but not sure what caliber it is. I've read post where people say it is stamped on the barrel but not this one. I've looked everywhere with a microscope on the outside of the rifle. Could it be somewhere else? If not, how do I tell what the caliber is? I bought the rifle as a 22LR pump but afterwards when checking it out, realized it was definitely not a 22. I did find the SN (4210) when I removed the stock.

Hank;

The Marlin Model 27-S was made in 3 calibers. The first 2 were .25-20 and.32-20 with the .25 Stevens rim-fire added later. If your bore is small, it is most likely either the .25-20 or the .25 Stevens calibers. The .25-20 is a center-fire cartridge and the Stevens is a rim-fire cartridge. You would need to look at the firing pin to determine if it is for center-fire or rim-fire.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
