Model 36-RC 30-30

Post by GoosHntr »

Hello,

Someone gave me an old lever action 30-30. Model 36-RC. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what year marlin made this gun and any other information. I would be grateful. :)

You have but to post the letter prefix to the serial number ( always tough to find the YOM without serial number information  ) and someone will provide the year. SW

I may not be looking in the right spot but the only other number that I can find is under the lever and that is 5891. If that is not the correct #, is there another area that the serial # would be? On the barrel is written, "Marlin Arms Co. , New Haven , est 1870, Model 36-RC -30-30 cal.

What is the letter in front of the number 5859?

I believe that the number under the lever is D 5891. It is kind of hard to read.

Your 36-RC (Regular Carbine) was made in 1947. The Model 336 followed in 1948.

If it is a small "c" and the receiver is case colored, it is a 1945. If it's a capitol "C", it is a 1946. Is the receivered blued?
