Marlin 36-A 30-30 lever action

Post by shawnpmay »

All,
Please help me. I was given a Marlin 36-A 30-30 lever action rifle and in doing research on the marlin site I put in my serial number. It has a 4 digit serial number starting with 6### and says it was manufactured in 1884. Then I read that Marlin did not introduce the 30-30 caliber until 1894.. How can this be?

Answered in your earlier post.

"Yours is a pretty easy one to determine, but I think you left off a prefix letter to the serial number, which is the most important part for a 36A to determine the year. But all 36A's were built between 1946-1947, so yours is one of those years."
Marlin lever actions 1870's-WWI, Ballards, and single shot rifles!
