I recently purchased a Ranger model 103-15. It is supposedly a marlin M90 made before the war. I am trying to find out when this was exactly made and how many were produced?
Thanks Dennis

by Regnier (gunrunner)
Dennis;

The "Ranger" name was dropped from the Sears, Roebuck and Company after WW II. Those guns were marked J.C. Higgins after the war.
The .410/.22 Combination was introduced in 1939, and with the war, production of sporting arms ceased for war production of arms.
So, your shotgun would have been made sometime between 1939 and late 1941, or early 1942.
The number produced is not known.
