Looking for the age of a Marlin Glenfield Model 30 Serial # 53848.

The Marlin Glenfield Model 30 was made from 1966 to 1972. The serial number you provided does not work out to those dates. There either needs to a letter prefix, or two digits, in case either 69, 70, 71 or 72 in front of the numbers you provided. When we have that information, then we can determine when your rifle was manufactured.

The "AB" serial number prefix indicates that your Marlin Glenfield Model 30 was manufactured in New Haven, Ct. in 1966.
