Marlin model 1893 dates

Post by aknapp »

I have a question regarding a Model 1893 that has a serial number of A105. I think it may be from around 1914-15? This is based on information from other requests of the same nature. The gun has a full length magazine, is a 30-30, and has special smokeless steel stamped into the octagonal barrel flat. Can anyone help out a bit?

Thanks.

Sounds like a standard Model 1893 that was made around 1916. I believe the new company started out with serial number A1 so yours is one of the first batch. They do not bring any more or less money than other 1893s.
It's a chancey job and it makes a man watchfull....and a little lonely.
