I have my great grandfather's shotgun and would like to inentify it
the number on the barrel is 36040f
the number on the reciever is 34425
the pattent dates are 11/6/1894 5/12/1896 and 6/2/1896
I see no other numbers

Your grandfather's Marlin, 12 gauge pump action shotgun is a standard or "A" grade Model 1898, and was shipped from the factory in New Haven, Ct. in April of 1902.
It has the original barrel according to the factory records.
