Marlin 1881

Post by Istari1961 »

Hello Everyone, I just acquired a Marlin 1881 in 32-40 with a 21"
Barrel. The serial # is 12204. It is in fair condition. What can you
tell me about this rifle?

Istari1961;

I can tell you that when it left the factory in mid-1886, it had about seven (7) inches more barrel length. The factory records show it was shipped with a 28 inch octagon barrel in .32-40 caliber.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.

Well, this would be a good candidate for a full restoration. Since it will need another barrel. What cartridges
are suited for the action since it's chambered in 32-40?
