Marlin 88 - questions

I just inherited some rifles from my father. There are two Whitney-Kennedy (my great-grandfather was Samuel V Kennedy), a Marlin, and a Remington.

The Marlin is a Model 88, serial # A7883. There is an engraving that says Marlin Firearms Corp. 1922. Anything anyone can tell me about this rifle would be great. Thanks!
