Model 28 Trap

Post by Jim W »

I have a Model 28 Trap? with a 4 digit serial number.

Unlike my Model 43, this one is not stamped Model 28 in front of the trigger and does not have to rolled machining on the forend slide bar, or the Marlin Bullseye inset in the stock. Is this correct for an early Model 28?

It does have the "Tournament" style forearm and straight grip stock with checkering on both.

Thanks

The Model 28 Trap Gun was offered between 1913 and 1917. Therefore, it will not have the Marlin trademark bullseye as that did not come along until 1922.
With the four digit serial number, I would tend to think that your Model 28 Trap Gun would have been made between 1916 and 1917 by either the Marlin Arms Corporation or by the Marlin-Rockwell Corporation.
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.
