1955 Marlin 336RC

In 1955 was the 336RC drilled & tapped for a scope mount at the factory and was the pistol grip on the stock fitted with a white line spacer and black plastic cap. If it had a black pastic cap on the pistol grip was the attaching screw blued steel or brass? Trying to accurately replace a stock on a 336RC with serial number prefixed with "M". Thanks.
