marlin 39a with no prefix
hello I have a marlin 39 a. the serial number has no prefix letter but the serial number on the barrel and the lever both match up. I called marlin they said it was manufactured n 1939. the research I've done reveal to me that there were not lots of marlin 39 a manufactured with out the prefix letter. my issue now is I that. I can't no find any information on the vaule of this firearm. it is in great condition. PLEASE HELP ME

It also could have been made in 1940. I think it was 1941 that the "B" prefix came into being. 1946 Would have a "C" prefix.
It's a chancey job and it makes a man watchfull....and a little lonely.

No idea as to the value as there is a wide range depending on the condition of the rifle. Yours originally had a case colored receiver and the amount left on the rifle will have a great effect on the value of the rifle and of course the over all condition.
