Handi Rifle in 445 supermag

Post by gundoctor »

A few years ago I lenghtened the chamber on two 44 mag. handi rifles to handle the 445 supermag. (One rifle was for a customer) got a nice doe opening day of the southern zone New York regular deer season. Using the lee 310 gr. f.n. mould for bullets it did a great job. The chamber lengthening job is an easy one. Just putting it out there for any one who owns a 44 mag. rifle that wants more heinie than the 44 mag. can deliver. Starline is the only supplier of brass that I know of and makes limtied runs of this brass. ( I stocked up the last time they made a run). I have a Fox Ridge built bbl. for my contender and a Dan Wesson in this chambering and think its a great cartridge to work with. Also that lee 310 gr. is what I shoot out of my Marlin in 444. Had to re-throat the bbl. to crimp the bullets in the front crimp groove. All stays put under recoil and I am a happy camper. Anyways just a thought on the handi rifle. And YES there are lots of gun lovers left in this state. Ha!
