1881 butt stock
I picked up a cut down ‘81 in 45-70 a while back. It’s been cut back to 18” which makes it really nice to handle and shoot both. Got a decent bore and is a hoot to shoot. Some where in the distant past the stock was damaged and about 4” was replaced at the butt. Wondering if anyone would have an ext...

Gunrunner,
Thanks for the correction. Nice to know that it is still in the original configuration as shipped. Thanks again for your input.

Re: Model 1894 vintage
Gunrunner, Very interesting that it was sent from the factory as a 32-20. It is now a 24” octagon 25-20 with no visible signs that it had ever been re-barreled. If only it could tell it’s own story! It shoots very well and is a hoot to shoot! I’ve killed several tin cans and even a bowling pin or tw...

Model 39 sn
Just picked up a fairly nice 39 with an HS prefix. The actual sn has a blank in the second space. Don’t know if it is from the lever rubbing out the digit or if it was stamped that way. Maybe one of you experts could give me an idea and D of Mfg. It has the bayonet type tube. SN is: HS 2 049 Tried a...

Re: 93 carbine in 25-36?
Thanks for the reply. I looked through all the info I had and could find no mention of that caliber. The only ones listed were 30-30 and 32 HPS

93 carbine in 25-36?
Are there any records of a 93 SRC being produced in .25-36?

Re: Model 1888
Thanks for the reply gunrunner. I think I answered my own question after doing more research but what made me ask the question was Brophy’s book on page 167 dealing with the 1888 model. It shows 1298 being made in 32/40, 1776 in 38/40, and 1727 in 44/40. I assume it must me a mistake because that is...

Model 1888
Just recently picked up a nice Model 1888 in 32 WCF. I just assumed (probably wrongly) that it was 32-20, but could it be 32-40? I have some loaded 32-20 but haven’t fired the rifle yet, been working on cleaning up the bore a bit. Were the 32-40’s marked as such or is “32 WCF” 32-20? Am new to the M...
