Re: Marlin 1888 32W

Yeah, for some unknown reason I've been optimistic about finding parts for this one. I keep think that somewhere out there someone has a box of parts that they might not even know what they go to. I just picked up a model 1889 parts gun that's missing the bolt and lever for next to nothing. I alread...

Marlin 1888 32W

I have a Marlin 1888 model that's missing a couple of parts. I've been trying to find a bolt and loading gate for about 4 years now with no luck. Are there any parts out there for these or am I better off to just throw in the towel and part it out?

WTB:1888 Marlin bolt

I'm hoping someone out there might have a small caliber (32W) bolt for an 1888 Marlin stashed away they would be willing to part with. I'm needing that and a loading gate to finish a project.

Re: Model 1888 Marlin parts

Well that's odd. I just measured the gate on a 1889 model in 32W and it's 1.15 from the center of the screw hole the the back of the gate opening, The 1888 I have in 32W measures 1.56

Re: Model 1888 Marlin parts

Thanks for that info. It looked to me like the locking bolt might be similar but I'm not sure about the lever or hammer. I do know that the spring is a little longer on the loading gate and it appears that it didn't have a lever catch like the 1889.

Model 1888 Marlin parts

Are there any common parts between a model 1888 and model 1889? Finding parts for an 1889 are possible but 1888 parts are like hen's teeth. I'd like to get my 1888 up and running have come to a stand still on finding parts.

Re: 1893 Marlin date of manufacture

This was an old stripped receiver I had laying around. It's marked Model 1893 on the upper tang and Marlin Safety on top and the side of the upper tang is marked 653. The serial number is on the bottom near the forearm. The barrel I had is marked Marlin Firearms CO. New Haven and says special smokel...

1888 Marlin parts?

What are the chances of finding parts for an 1888 Marlin? I have a stripped receiver in 32W caliber that I'd like to put back into service if I can find the parts. I know it's a long shot but you never know.

1893 Marlin date of manufacture

I have an old 1893 Marlin that was a parts gun that I just repaired back to shooter condition. I'm a little confused about the manufacture date though. The serial number is 12xx and when I plug that in it comes up as built before 1893. How can that be?

1888 Marlin parts

I recently acquired a Marlin 1888 receiver in what appears to be 32W caliber. Does anyone know if there are parts available anywhere to bring this old rifle back to life? One option might be an old parts gun with an unusable receiver, but so far all I've found on the online auctions are one barreled...
