Thanks for your quick reply, I should be able to at least closely inspect the bolt to see what the issue is. Have you heard of "bolt issues" with this model in the past? I have 3 Marlins but have never had to replace a part. First time for everything.

I am working on a model 39 Article II. The gun is from an estate that is being evaluated. The medallion is damaged even though the rest of the gun is at least 90%. I have a new medallion but I do not know how to remove the old one safely. Any ideas?
