Re: Model 1893 Barrel Markings

Guys, I thought I learned something new recently about the 1893 barrels but this thread is causeing me to requestion it. I had always assumed that the early unmarked barrels were softer steel than the later barrels because they werent marked. Then a recent post on Marlin Owners got me looking into B...

Re: Fitting a cresent butt plate

I just found this, Jim, your an artist! I have a favor I'd like to ask, check your PM when you have a chance! On another note, the 308 bore surprises me on newer guns. Are the recent Marlin 1894CL's like that? I'd think we would hear about it if they were. Anyway, my 32/20 does excellent with .312 o...

Re: 1889 .32/20 rehab...

You can use current production 1894 screws except for the tang screw. The tang screw you can get from Wisners, its the same as a 1893 or 1894.
Marlin, Numrich or Brownells should have a spring for the magazine.

Theyre great guns & 32/20 is a fun one to shoot! Congrats! :D

Re: The Marlin CEO, On The Bullseye Rumor

Pete, Tomray's not the CEO. He's just an engineer that works there. *beep* of a nice guy if you ever have the pleasure of meeting him & I wish he was the CEO as him & I get together a coupla times a year, but he's npt. I get the impression he is a sort of production engineer involved lately ...

Re: New here with an old 1894

OK, I tried the vinegar/HP solution and while it got out more of the fouling, it's still really bad. I may send the barrel off for relining. Probably the best bet. One place I found for part is Numrich Gun Parts (http://www.e-gunparts.com) Does anybody have any experiance with them? Yup, when they ...

Re: 32-20 accuracy problem

Dangit thats a pretty gun Jim! I love that pistol grip! I, like jdad, have been useing laser cast .313" 115 grain bullets with great sucess. Before that I used a few dozen I think were Miester .312 115 gr & they were fine too. Never have tried soft lead in it yet. Mine likes Hornady XTP's t...

Re: refinishing a 1893

I could be wrong but I dont think the screws were ever cased with the reciever. I never saw cased screws & would think they might be brittle. They might have nitre blued the screws & your right, the barrels were rust blued. I think the screws & loading spring, barrel, tube, barrel bands ...

Re: Model 1894 carrier rocker spring variations

None of my 1889's have any spring & neither does my only old 1894.
They all have the same carrier/rocker setup where the back is wide open, I dont see how or where a spring would sit. My newer 94's are very similar looking to a short 336 lifter & have a spring.

1894 carbifle

I finished fitting the wood to my 25/20 I had John Taylor line for me. I'm planing on getting evrything blued or cased but think I'll shoot it a bit as it is first. The buttstock is a Precision gun works second & the forend a cut down 336 piece of walnut. I had John try & alter a modern barr...

Re: Marlin Model 1893 Questions

Hi Ken, Thank you very much for responding to my message.I'll look out for a 336 lifter as well.I enjoyed all your photos on photobucket very much. Re: Marlin Model 1893 Questions

Hello Folks, I'm looking for a Carrier Rocker with Spring for an early Model 1893 in .25-36 Marlin calibre.Numrich and W.G.Parts are sold out or don't have any. Sandy. If you dont have any luck finding one a 336 lifter is easy to make work. Needs material removed in a few spots but it should time &...

Not sure when they did it but I think all except the cowboy models are now checkered. If you find one unchecked its not current production, theyre basiclly the same gun though.

You sure it wasn't cut? The only unbusted one I ever saw was full length.
