Re: Wanted: Marlin 20a pump .22
I have a Marlin 20-A with a full Magazine. It's in very good shape, original blue etc. It also has a nice shootable bore. It's only problem is that someone only shot .22 shorts in it. It will shoot .22LR, but it won't extract the empty cases. To shoot .22 LR, it would have to be Relined. All of the ...

Moving the last Dave Woods
I've hit 81 years of age, and rather than die leaving the last of my collection laying in the safe. I'm selling them off. I loved to work on and partially restore the Marlins I acquired. I only have a few .22's left. Because I was a shooter collector, my joy was getting them functioning in shooting ...

Selling Out
The last time I posted was back in 2012. I was a Marlin restorer back in the 90's. I did the work just because I loved the old Marlins. I got tired of dealing with the ATF, and essentially gave it up. I sold out my parts, and sold off all my center fire Levers. At this point in my life, I'm pushing ...

Three Model 25 Pumps
I think Marlin made the Model 25 pump for more than one year. Brophy says 1910 only. I have evidence that this is not the case. My earliest 25 has the long "L" shaped locking lever like the early Model 20. When the carrier is raised, there is a gap between the end of the carrier and the cha...

Re: Firing pin for Model 1895 45-70 needed
Here's what I would do. As you know, on opening the action, the end of the lever retracts the firing pin. This is vitally important. put a 336 pin in the bolt and see if the lever retracts it. When the firing pin protrudes from the face of the bolt, and you look into the slot in the bolt that accomm...

Tang Sight For a Model 1892
I need a Tang Site for a Model 1892. I made one up from parts on hand. I had a barrel with a perfect bore that a guy traded me for a shot out barrel. the barrel I got from him, had come from some non marlin .22. A good gunsmith had turned it down on a lathe and re thread / chambered it. The guy want...

Re: Model 39
Back in the 40's/ 50's, I was raised in Glendale Arizona. If your 39 has the button release magazine, they were always a 1/2 inch short of the muzzle. This is because the outer magazine tube is the same length as the 1897 tube, but without the latch. They just converted it to the button release. Dav...

Re: Marlin 1893 ID help
If it has a blued receiver, it's most likely a "For Black Powder" gun. 16" barrels were "Trapper "Models", and they're very rare. It's possible to fake one by cutting the barrel. If the serial number is before 1906 There will be a written record from Marlin on the gun. ...

Re: 1894 Lever Action Forend tip
I'll look through my parts and see if I have one. I used to have a lot before I sold off all my center fire parts.
the forend cap for a 336 Cowboy would work.

Stuff For Sale or Trade
This is Dave Woods. Back in the 90's I used to restore Marlin Levers, and Pump rifles. I was always a fixer upper. New "minty" guns bored me to death. This Hobby turned into a "sort of" business. Is long as I loved doing it, I may as well get paid something even though nobody can...
