Rick,
I don't know why I had LONG in my head all these years.
In my 1911 original Marlin catalog, pg 113, it clearly states
MODEL 18 PARTS :
Carrier, Short or Long Rifle.....$2.00
Maybe that's why I haven't been able to find a LONG carrier for some 35 years.....

Re: Marlin 18 Pump 22
Rick,
You stated above that the Model 18 was shipped with a .22 LONG RIFLE carrier.
I thought it was shipped with a .22 LONG carrier ?
In my 35 years of scrounging boxes at gunshows, I have yet to run across one. I've always wanted one for mine.

Re: Marlin Safety stamping on vintage model '94's.
I would advise you to move very cautiously on that nickel receiver. I have seen many, many old Marlin lever actions that appear to be nickel plated, that simply aren't. For whatever reason, when originally cased receivers lose their case coloring, they turn silver - so shiny silver that it will appe...

Zooming in on your pic I can see where the dovetail is cut over the original caliber stamping. The caliber of you rifle is likely .25-20M (which stands for Marlin) which is the same caliber as .25-20 WCF (Winchester Center Fire).

Re: Help Identifying Shotguns
Greetings, www.vintagegungrips.com has repo buttplates for Marlins. IDK if the will fit your particular model or not, but it is worth a look. I think you will be able to make one work. They list the dimensions of their plates, so that will help. As far as an original, you can watch ebay for a very l...

Re: Marlin 30-30 Model 93
I attend many gunshows over the coarse of a year on both sides of the tables. It's funny how many times I hear about this "fire in the factory" which destroyed the records. It must have been one big fire. I've heard it took place in the Marlin. Winchester, Colt, S&W, and Remington fact...

Follow the recipe in your reloading manual and you'll be fine. For these older firearms, I like to keep the loads towards the lighter side of published loads. I have been reloading for 35 years and have never had a problem.

Numrich Arms has the magazine tube plug screw you mention for a little over $5.
It's a repo screw, but finding an original will probably not happen.

Re: Model 1893 Deluxe tang sight
Brokenshoes; When introduced, the Model 1893 was available in only two calibers, the .32-40 Ballard and the .38-55 Ballard, both black powder cartridges, hence the two calibers for the "J" or M4 marked sights. The other Model 1893 calibers were all smokeless cartridges with higher pressur...

A GOOD, QUALITY, set of GUNSMITH screwdrivers from Brownells. Many makes and models to choose from. Stay away from a set made by LYMAN. I have broken so many tips on that set, I've lost count. Thank goodness they have a good customer service department, and so far have replaced them free of charge. ...

Re: I found this "Marlin No. 18" rifle
You could list it in the "for sale" section on this website. Being manufactured after 1898, it it classified by BATF as a modern firearm and will have to go through the normal channels (ship to a FFL or C&R holder), which is relatively easy on your end.
