I have had this old Marlin for a lot of years. Fits me good, and hits what I point it at. Just looking for some information on the gun.
It has a 35 1/4 inch barrel, from the tip to the firing pin. Overall length is 49" including a 1 inch recoil pad.
I refinished the stock years ago, and reblued the barrel.
Couple of questions:
Where is the serial number located? I don't see one, unless I need to disassemble the gun.
Has anyone ever made a clip for this gun that holds more than 2 shells?
Thanks,
Rick Neighbors

Re: Marlin Model 55-12 gauge bolt action
Rick;
If you do not see a serial number, then your Marlin Model 55 "Goose Gun" would have been made sometime between 1962 and 1968. If your "Goose Gun has sling swivels, then it was made after 1964.
Marlin did not serialize many of the models they made prior to 1968 as it was not required by law. After passage of the Gun Control Act of 1968, all firearms were required to have serial numbers and records maintained.
Federal law prohibits shotguns from having a capacity of more than a total of 3 shots, so only 2 round clips were ever made for the Model 55.
I hope this helps.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
