Marlin 30-30
A buddy got what appears to be on old marlin 30-30. On the barrel it says Marlon firearms co. New Haven CT. Patterned October 11, 1887…. I can’t find a caliber or model printed, only a serial number on the underside 20882! Any ideas about this gun?

Unless your buddy's barrel has been changed out for a .30-30 caliber barrel, the old factory records show that this Model 1893 was shipped from the factory in New Haven, Ct. in 1900 with a .38-55 caliber barrel. That is of course, we got the right serial number. Sometimes, the 3 will appear like an 8, or a 6 or 9. Numbers have to be checked carefully. Best to pull the butt stock and look at the serial number on the side of the upper receiver tang.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
