Recently a Marlin 39A 90th Anniversary rifle sold on Gunbroker (for $2400). My question relates to a statement made by the seller regarding the original owners name being engraved on the right side of the receiver. He stated that this was an "option from the factory". Can anyone comment on this? Thanks!

Highly unlikely! That gun, Mountie #292 was shipped to Remco, Inc. of Chicago, Illinois, not to an individual. Marlin was not in a position to do special order engravings for individuals that would have had to be shipped to a particular dealer.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

Do you have any idea how many were sold as matched sets? I have personally seen one set owned by a guy from the Rushville, Illinois area and boy did I lust after that set. I see a set sold at the Rock Island Auction in 2017 for $4,600.00 and would have been in the bidding on that set had I not found out about it too late.Regnier (gunrunner) wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 9:36 pm Sneekpete;
