36 or 336?
I have a Marlin 36-RC 3030 with the serial number F4427. This tells me that the gun was made in 1949, but does that make it a 336 or 36?

The Model 336 was introduced in 1948. That would make your 1949 gun a Model 336. The difference between a Model 36 and 336 is the breech bolt. The Model 36 had the old, square bolt style receiver and the newer Model 336 had the round breech bolt inside the receiver.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
