Post by stump »

In '66 was the 336RC available with a Monte Carlo stock?

THe 336SD was offered with a deluxe Monte Carlo type stock from 1955-62. The 336A, and 336ADL also show as monte carlo stocks. Not sure if the 336RC or 336C ever got a "monte carlo" style stock? They did have a pistol gripped stock, but my old catalogs don't show a monte carlo for them.

As I recall, the only 336-type Marlin was offering in 1966 with a Monte Carlo stock was the relatively new, 24" barreled .444, introduced in '64, but not really in local gun shops 'til '65. I remember that many folk, at the time, derogatorily referred to it as a canoe paddle.

I quess I was a little incomplete on all info, it is an RC and also 30/30.

I know nothing about these rifles but all the pictures and different forums i've came across have never said or shown this stock available on it. This makes me believe it has been replaced before and actually needs to be replaced again because of a large crack from the pistol grip up to the cheek pad.
