Long time Marlin fan, new member here! I was pawnshopping this week and came across a Marlin-Glenfield 30GT .30-30. Straight stock, 18.5" barrel. It's in about 75% condition. I've always wanted to get a straight grip .30-30... After finding one now, I'm wondering if I should pick it up at $215, or wait around for a better condition specimen/better deal. I haven't seen very many of the straight grip models and was wondering if these are a bit of a rarity, or rather that I haven't kept my eyes open at the gunshows.
You are the first person that I know of that has been looking for that model, other than me. It's a very rare bird (7,737 produced in 1979) and if it's 75%, that's better than never seeing one. Which is where I'm at. The price isn't too bad even for a decent shooter. I'd see if the price is negotiable. Maybe Marlin can restore it back to better than 75% for you. Good Luck!
