Model 120 Shotgun
Hello, I need some advice. I have a sick 120 Mag. I have not looked up the serial# but it is a 28'' full choke with pressed checkering; hopefully that will date it well enough. To make a long story short, this was a freebie that spent a number of years in a barn. It was a rot-ball. I have gotten it looking good again, but it has a cycling problem. Believe it or not, it seems to have nothing to do with the rust. The chamber is bright and clean, as well as all the ''guts''. If the gun is just loaded and cycled, it works fine. If it is fired, the spent shell sticks in the chamber. Have you ever fired a rusty shell you found in the bottom of your blind bag? If you have, it' about the same story. It seems to be worse with low brass (or low steel these days) shells, especially the cheapo value-pack stuff. If I slam the thing on my thigh it will extract and eject fine, but just takes too much effort. I have been through it completely 3 times and can't find any broken, bent or worn parts. I ''need'' another gun, especially an old rusty broken shotgun, like I need a hole in my head, but I have a special place in my heart for Marlins (what else can toss a big 45/70 case to a concrete floor as well as an 1895? Click-shink-pop-pause-tink-tink,tink-tink-tink,tink,tink) and I particularly like the fit of this 120 and I shoot it well. I would appreciate any advice that anyone can give. Thanks, Mike.
