1888 Marlin 38-40 stuck firing pin
I have a remarkably good looking Marlin Model 1888 with a firing pin stuck in fired position, Soaked a month in penetrating oil. Kroil and Liquid Wrench. No luck so far. Ultra sound has be suggested. The 1888 being a rare Marlin with lousy parts availability I'm trying to be careful. Any members with experience regarding this issue? Ideas?

I've not had one stick, but have had several 1888 models torn completely down. I'd suggest taking the breech bolt out, and driving the firing pin pins out so you can clean the firing pin, plus clean the bore the firing pin moves in also. Soaking might eventually free it up, but the crud will eventually dry again and be right back where you are now.Clankster wrote: ↑Fri May 23, 2025 10:58 am I have a remarkably good looking Marlin Model 1888 with a firing pin stuck in fired position, Soaked a month in penetrating oil.
