1889 marked "Ike Clanton" in fancy scroll

Post by MarlinMann-1881 »

I have a 1889 I bought recently as a parts gun, its missing some parts, rear stock (and butt plate), hammer and rear sight, etc.. i Have others for parts to fix it.
I am a member of the assoc. and Cody museum. before asking for Cody letter I was wondering if you had shipping info on this rifle.
1889 SN 34913 by the marlin book it should be around 1890. Its 24" octagon in 44-40, Ike Clanton died in 87 ...curious!
Thanks for what you can provide.

Factory records show that serial number as the following:

Model 1889 ,44-40 caliber 24 inch octagon barrel Shipped; May 1890. So unless there was more than one Ike Clanton, the inscription would seem to be spurious. Or, it was done in memory of Ike!
Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!

The growing federal deficit = generational slavery to the national debt.

If the world was perfect.......it wouldn't be.

Thanks,
Its really nice engraving, guns a "little weathered" but the bore is good. Was hoping that they might have a shipped to address to see what part of the country or a person/outfit they shipped to. I have a "few" guns stamped V kindler Saginaw, all '81's read up on them.. interesting stuff. New to the sight but been a marlin Nutt for a "few" decades. Just thought the 89 was interesting and a puzzle.
Thanks again.
