1894 Marlin Octagon question
I have a Marlin 1894 Octagon barrel 44 mag that I am trying to research. I believe it is the 1973 model judging by SN 27010905 but when I checked with Marlin on SN look-ups they had no record of it. Another strange thing is there is no JM stamp on left side of barrel, nor is there a Remington mark of any kind. I sent this rifle to Doug Turnbull years ago to have it beautifully case hardened and rust blued and it is stunning. Great shooter too with one ragged hole at 50 yards and 1 3/4" at 150 yards. Can anyone confirm this is indeed a JM gun?

Re: 1894 Marlin Octagon question
SOTDave;
Rest assured, your Marlin Model 1894 was made by Marlin and NOT Remington. The JM mark may be under the forearm or Turnbull buffed it off. You are correct, it is a 1973 made gun.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
