Marlin Model 99 Year
I have a Marlin Model 99. 18 Shot tube. Gold trigger. Barrel States: THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN U.S.A (top line). MODEL 99 Auto-Micro-Groove Barrel-CAL. .22 L.R. (bottom line). Under the rear site on the barrel there is an AJ. I have researched all of the above info and the AJ seems to mean that it was made in January 1966. But then other sources say that this particular model wasn't made in that year and this must be a 99 M1 or some other variant. Definitely isn't an M1 and there are no other markings on the barrel state that it anything other than a 99. So is it possible that I have just a regular Model 99 that was made in January 1966? Help please and thank you in advance.

Reapercrew08;
What you have is a Marlin Model 99C. The 99C is nearly identical to the 99 with only minor differences. The 99C was made from 1961 to 1978. In 1966, the Model 99C sold for $48.95. Marlin produced over 100,000 of the Model 99C during the production run.

Due to the increasing cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot!
