Model 90 16 gauge
Hey ya'll. New member here. Just picked up a model 90 16 gauge and am looking for dating info. serial # is G414. It has 26" barrels. Got the cool plum color on the reciever and a bit of pitting where the barrel assy meet the reciever. Tubes are nice and clean and it locks up tight. I know everyone likes pics, so here they are.....

The "G" serial number prefix indicates your Marlin Model 90 was made in 1950.
The "cool plum color" on the receiver is a result of someone trying to refinish your receiver. The receiver is not made of steel, but malleable iron that does not accept a regular blue finish. I suspect Marlin had the receivers anodized originally to a blue-black finish.

Congratulations on your "new" 16 ga. Model 90. My 16 ga. Model 90DT with 26" barrels choked IC/Mod has become my favorite upland bird gun. Be careful, Model 90's can be addictive once you shoot one. Don't be surprised if you need to get another one (or two or three, or ....)
