I just purchased a marlin 60 w and was curious to know is there a way to know what year it was made sr#0937---- ,also mine has a gold medal on the stalk that says "safety ethics sportsmanship" does anyone know what that means and last but not least i would like to break it down and give a good cleaning is the a how to book or something of this nature as you can probably tell im new at this so any help would be great thank you for your time.

Sounds like something that was added to the stock for an award or something of that nature. As to the manual call Marlin and request one as I believe they are still available.

I'm renewing this thread because today I just picked up a sweet clean 1993 Marlin 60W with this same "Safety Ethics Sportsmanship" medal that portrays a father / son hunting scene and curious as to why it's there? Another gun shop in town also has a 60W with this same medal, so it must be fairly common.

Also, I need the rear trigger guard screw for the 60W. Does Marlin supply parts direct to customers?

I don't remember where I read it, but I believe there was a line like that which had something to do with hunter safety programs. I am not sure of that so if anyone knows please chime in.

Stock Medallion

The "Safety, Ethics, Sportmanship" medallion was put into the stocks of a limited edition of of 8,605 rifles that were made up for Woolco, the old Woolwoth Company in 1982. Their number for this rifle was Model 75-20.
