32 Long Colt alternative in Europe - 320 Long

Much to my surprise I found oldish 320 Long smokeless ammo at a gun show near Paris- yes, there are gun shows in Europe. It cost me a bit over a euro ($1.25)

a round but I did get 25 rounds of live ammo with lead bullets. It's a tad shorter, about 1/8, than the 32 Long Colt, chambers fine with both my no 2 Ballard and my Marlin model 92. I shot them all, now I've got some more brass for reloading. So for any collector East of Newfoundland, there's hope...Look for 320 ammo.

Can you tell us who the manufacturer is.

Hi Pat,
I checked Cartridges of the World for the 320. (320 Revolver) It states that the 320 Revolver actually predates the .32 Colt Short, as it came out in 1870! It was made here in the states for a short time, but went by the wayside once Colt came out with thier version in .32 Short.

I don't know the manufacturer, they came without a box. The headstamp says G.F.L one side 320 the other. They're 320 Long cartridges. The 320 short is easier to find, some small operators even sell new Black Powder 320 Short ammo made from turned brass, at a whooping €2 a piece. Mostly it's used in tiny revolvers called Bulldogs, very popular in the late 19th/early 20th century. There's still many of them around.
