Need rifle identification please

Post by venn1976 »

Hello;

I have a single shot bolt action 22 rifle that has Townleys Pal on the barrel. It has what I call a wrap around trigger guard, and a metal buttplate. Thats about all there is to it. I don't know anything about it, would like any info that anyone could give me. I have picturs of this gun, but can't figure out how to put them on here. If anyone needs to see a pic, just let me know, and I will e-mail you them. Thanks for any help!!

I could not find anything on that model, even in Numerichs crossbrand to manufacturer list. It sounds like one made for one of the small chain stores and haven't found anything on it.

Venn1976;

"Townley's Pal" was a trade name used by the H & D Folsom Arms Company for guns made for the Townley Metal and Hardware Company of Kansas City, Missouri.
Folsom Arms of New York City made guns under the name of Crescent Firearms in Norwich, Ct. and at one time owned Savage Arms. They made the Baker guns and others over the years. They made a lot of guns for large hardware companies while they were in business.
I hope this helps.

Hey,

I really appreciate you all taking the time to review my question, and doing all the research. It's kind of nice to know a little about a rifle's history that you have. If anyone could give a round about year, it would be kind of handy to know. No bid deal, just curious I guess.

Thanks again for all the help!

Given the name of the rifle, my guess would be from the turn of the century. It was common practice then for any given manufacturer to make up various firearms and stamp them with another name. Marlin also did this. SW
