Unless you provided the wrong serial number, you do not have a Marlin Model 1894. The serial number you provided shows in the old factory records as a Model 1889, in .38-40 caliber with a 26 inch octagon barrel, shipped in late 1889. This would be one of the early Model 1889's as the Model 1888 was made from August of 1888 to October of 1889 when the Model 1889 replaced the Model 1888.
