Can't seem to find an explanation to match the serial number with a date of manufacture that fits my gun. Serial number on tang behind hammer is 73123111. Barrel says "The Marlin Firearms Co. North Haven. Conn. U.S.A. ORIGINAL GOLDEN-39A CAL.22 S.L. & L.R. MICRO-GROOVE BARREL
It has a JM proof mark on the left side of the barrel just in front of the receiver. It does not have a cross-bolt safety. It is tapped for a scope. I inherited it from my father and don't know where he got it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
