Re: original marlin 39 stock?
My early Model 39 is at another location now so I cannot measure it for you, but if you wish to send me your email, I will send you photos if that is any help. My email is richardschreiber@cox.net

Re: Marlin No. 20 Deluxe?
If you go to James D Julia's web sight and view its fall 2016 you will find two examples of deluxe engraved Marlin model 20s. Having seen few come up at auction over the years it appears that relatively few exist.

original marlin 39 stock?
If original, should the stock of an early no prefix Marlin model 39 (circa 1925) show the gun's serial number on the stock under the tang when the stock is removed? The gun in question has a fancy figured stock (with a marlin bulls eye in the proper location under the stock and a very well fitting b...

Rick,
I agree with your observation and also concur that a vote for HRC because she is a woman is just as your "footnote" suggests.

Re: Deluxe engraved marlin model 20s
I don't know if any of you compared the quality of the deluxe engraved Marlin model 20s that sold at the last Julia auction with the deluxe engraved Winchester model 1890 that sold at the last RIA auction. In my view, the condition and overall appearance of the Marlins (wood and engraving) was super...

Re: Deluxe engraved marlin model 20s
Thanks for directing my attention to the 2010 Julia auction. I should have thought to look there too. I have to assume that Richard Rohal had not cornered the market on all existing engraved Model 20s so it would be interesting to know if anyone is aware of other non-Rohal owned engraved model 20s.

Deluxe engraved marlin model 20s
Aside from the two deluxe engraved model 20s recently sold at auction by Julia, is anyone aware of any other engraved deluxe Marlin model 20s? From Ned Schwing's book on Winchester model 1890s I see that until about 1906 very few (less than 50) 1890s were engraved. A quick look at the Winchester rec...

Re: Marlin Model 47 - research project
I just noticed that in above data that I supplied the serial number of my model 47 should have been identified as 3210, not 321.

Re: Marlin Model 47 - research project
Chrifle, In reply to your 47 research project: I just bought a 47 last week at the Winchester show in Cody Wyoming. Its serial number is 321. Its tang is marked in 2 lines, the first reading "Marline" and the 2nd "No. 47". Crown is flat. Sights are fixed with front sight perhaps ...

case colored marlin model 39
Please advise me as to how best to determine if a Marlin model 39 has been re case colored. I am looking at one that based on serial number likely made about 1925. The seller maintains it is original case coloring. Its coloring is very bright and vivid , even on its hammer. While I have certainly se...
