Re: Marlin 30 push pin
The screw was there, but Bubba had done some work on it. It turns out the threads in the receiver were stripped and the screw was just held in with a small peen to the screw head. It was too short as well. I had to rethread the hole in 4-40 and make a new screw. Works now thanks. Tom

Marlin 30 push pin
Picked a model 30 needs lots of cleanup and TLC. My question is how is the recoil safety push pin retained? There was a small screw in the receiver, but the pin was free to be pulled out. The diagram on Gun parts shows nothing to hold it in. Any help appreciated. Tom

Just acquired a 30g 20ga of course, I would like to take it apart. I have read the posted Sticky instructions, but no pictures show up, did I miss something? Any help appreciated. Thanks Tom

Thanks, at least I was close. I only redo guns that are too far gone to be put back as original. Once the project is underway, I approach it as a special order, meaning the customer could order what he wanted.

I know what you mean. This rifle is a little nicer than most of the single shots I have put together. Would you Marlin experts have a guess as to the mfg. year. The serial number is 345246 and it does have the old style ejector, no screws on the outside. My guess would be 1908?? or so.

I had a hand in everything but the engraving. It was done by Leo Ferguson in Lubbock. The magazine tube came from Wisners. The rest was done locally, with the help of a good friend.

Re: Garage sale Model 97
Sorry, but Albuquerque is in New Mexico. Just got the rifle back together a few days ago and just had to show it to folks who might appreciate it. I just hope it doesn't get traded for a black gun, sort of grown attached to it.

Re: Garage sale Model 97
At least the first part is true. I did pay $100 for a really beat up 97, with a grafted on Stevens barrel and a ruined magazine tube. Spent a fair of amount of time and $$ to put together what is in the picture. The rifle was built for the 21st birthday of my cousins grand son.

Re: #2 ballard in 38-55
Surprise, I heard back from the seller. He said he had seen a lot of them set-up that way and owned and shot one himself. He felt it was safe. Basically, mind your own business.

#2 ballard in 38-55
Do a search on Gunbroker under Ballard to see a mis-matched #2 in 38-55. The seller is some sort of pawn/gun shop. I believe this is a dangerous combination and sent a message to that effect. What do the experts think?

Trying to locate a four finger loop lever, and steel butt plate for my ballard project. Frontier armory does not answer e-mail or return phone calls. Parts do not have to be orginals castings are fine. Anybody got spares.
Thanks Tom Meyer
